Data Deletion Request

This page explains how to request deletion of your data from Wesal (Wesalinbox), what is actually deleted, and what may remain and why. It describes what we really do — we do not promise instant deletion, and we do not state a deadline we cannot guarantee.

Who are you?

1) A customer who messaged a business on WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger

In that case the business you messaged is the controller of your data and Wesal operates the conversation on its behalf. You can contact us directly — we will carry out the deletion in our systems and inform the business — or you can contact the business itself.

2) A Wesal account holder (merchant)

You can request deletion of your entire business account, or deletion of one of your customers' data on their request. Full account deletion is not currently self-service in the dashboard — it is carried out by us on your request. We state that plainly rather than implying a one-click button exists.

How to make the request

  1. Email info@wesalinbox.com with the subject Data Deletion Request.
  2. Include the following so we can identify your data precisely:
    • The WhatsApp number you used to message the business (international format, e.g. 9665xxxxxxxx), your Instagram username if the conversation was on Instagram, or your Facebook name and the name of the Page you messaged if the conversation was on Messenger.
    • The name of the business or store you were talking to.
    • If you are a Wesal account holder: the email address registered to the account.
  3. We may ask for a simple confirmation that the request genuinely comes from you before deleting anything — this protects you from someone else deleting your data.
  4. We begin processing as soon as the request is received and verified, and email you a confirmation once it is complete.

What is actually deleted

  • The contact record (name, number, tags, stage, satisfaction rating and comment).
  • The full conversation: the transcript shown in the dashboard and the stored message log (inbound and outbound).
  • The AI assistant's conversation context.
  • Internal notes about the customer.
  • Scheduled messages and broadcast delivery records.
  • Notifications about that conversation and their read state.

What may remain — and why

  • AI usage counter: the month's billing record remains, but with no identifier pointing to you — it is replaced with a random, non-linkable token. It is kept purely for monthly plan accounting.
  • Encrypted backups: a backup taken before the deletion still contains the data until it ages out of the backup retention cycle. Backups are not rewritten for one individual.
  • Technical operation logs: older log lines may contain identifiers from before our log-redaction layer was introduced; they expire according to the hosting provider's retention period.
  • Records required for legal or accounting purposes: such as a merchant account's invoicing and subscription records, kept for as long as required.

If you make the request from Instagram's settings

If you connected your business Instagram account to Wesal, you can make the request from Instagram itself instead of emailing us — from your account settings, by removing the Wesal app or by requesting data deletion. Both actions concern the Instagram account that granted access, meaning your own account as the business owner:

The same applies to the Facebook account that connected a Messenger Page to Wesal: removing the Wesal app or requesting data deletion from your Facebook settings deletes the Page connection and its stored access tokens, and never touches your customers' conversations.

  • Remove app: we delete the connection and the stored access token, so Wesal immediately stops reading or sending Instagram messages on your behalf.
  • Request data deletion: we delete the same data — your Instagram account id, username and access token — and additionally issue you a confirmation code and a URL for tracking the request's status.

In neither case are your customers' conversations, contacts or related notes deleted, and neither touches your WhatsApp data, your Wesal account or your subscription. The reason is that none of that is data about you: the customers who messaged you on Instagram never granted Wesal any access, and their conversations are your business's records, which we hold on its behalf — deleting them on the strength of a request about your own account would destroy other people's data when they asked for nothing.
